The Chitralaya Rath Mela 2023 will start on 20th June 2023 and will remain for 10-15 days. You can visit it within this time with your family or create everlasting memories with your friends.

Chitralaya Rath Yatra Mela (Durgapur) 2023 timings

The shops and rides of the Rath Yatra Mela open at around 10 in the morning and remain open late till 10 at night.

I would recommend you visit around 7 or 8 PM to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and enjoy the real vibe of the Mela. Also, don’t forget to pull the sacred rope attached to Lord Jagannath’s chariot.

For more than 53 years, this particular fair is being held at the same venue which is the Rajiv Gandhi Mela Ground.

Every year, people from all over Durgapur as well as from the neighboring cities like Asansol, Raniganj, etc. visit the Mela in large numbers.

It is undoubtedly a grand celebration for the people of Durgapur. Even the rain can’t spot them from visiting the fair to touch the sacred rope of the chariot, seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and spend some time at various stalls scattered throughout the fairground.

There is a huge number of stalls in which you can get a variety of items such as clothes, jewelry, basic necessities, and home decor. The food stalls, with delicious foods and drinks, bring flavor to the fair. Everyone’s fav includes the “Paskurar chop” and Jalebi.

The rides are too interesting to miss. Hope to see some new rides this year.

Durgapur Rath Yatra Mela book fair

The book fair that is held along with it brings to you a huge collection of books in more than 53 stalls. There is a nominal entry fee to the book fair but it’s very little compared to the variety of books that you get inside.

Other Rath Yatras in Durgapur

Another fair is organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)  started 8 years back and is going on quite well. It’s held at the Chaturanga Ground and attracts quite a number of people.

There is also a Jagannath Temple adjacent to Mamra Bazar near MAMC township. This is one of the oldest Jagannath Temples in Durgapur and the Rath Yatra celebration here is the oldest in the city.

This year also Durgapur is going to witness another huge gathering like it does every year. The excitement had already started.
