Durgapur, the steel city of India is undertaking a whole new step to curb the increasing rate of illegal activities.
Asansol-Durgapur police commission will be installing CCTV cameras in various local police station areas.
Mainly 14 markets, bus stands, and government offices will be getting this. As of now, there will be 3 stages of installing the cameras. In the very first stage, 200 cameras will be installed at Durgapur and Newtownship police station.
Secondly, Cokeoven police station will get the CCTV cameras. In the last stage, the cameras will be installed in Andal, Kanksa, Budbud, and Faridpur police station.
Apart from these places, the nearby places of National Highways and in various check posts the cameras will also be installed.
In the meantime, a control room has already been set up in Asansol which is the new district headquarters of Paschim Barddhaman. There will also be a control room in Durgapur from where surveillance will be made on industrial places near the NH 2 and nearby places. This is done to improve and tighten the security of the city.
The police hope that this will be very effective to tackle the increase in crime rates in the city. Previously they have also planned to install CCTV cameras on Nachan Road.
Asansol-Durgapur police commissioner Abhishek Modi said,
” By installing these cameras we are hoping that crimes can be controlled in a much more effective way.”
We hope that this will add on to the security of the steel city, and the increasing rate of crimes in the city will go down. We hope the management will also take a step in the prevention of the increasing amount of road accidents in the city and will minimize it.
