2 days per week lockdown dates announced for August

Kolkata: According to the latest update, the lockdown has been extended until the end of August all over West Bengal to restrain the spreading of COVID-19.

Today, chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee in a press conference, has announced of complete lockdown for specific dates all over West Bengal.

Total lockdown will be imposed all over West Bengal on,

5th August (Wednesday),

8th August (Saturday),

16th August (Sunday),

17th August (Monday),

23nd August (Saturday),

24rd August (Sunday), and

31st August (Monday).

Biweekly lockdown has been announced mostly on Saturdays and Sundays.

This concept of biweekly lockdown was announced earlier this month to curb the community transmission of COVID-19.

But in August, festivals like Eid and Independence day are on Saturdays.

So, the lockdown will be enforced on above mentioned dates.

Durgapur also announced new market hours. The new timings are from 8 AM to 2 PM.

The timings of shopping malls were also changed from 12noon to 6 PM.

Schools, colleges will remain closed till 31st August in West Bengal.

The decision of reopening them will be taken on September.
