4000+ total COVID cases in Paschim Bardhaman

Paschim Bardhaman: It’s been about 5 months since the first COVID case was reported in Durgapur and the number is increasing ever since.

Many areas in Durgapur as well as Paschim Bardhaman district as a whole have seen a substantial increase in cases recently.

4145 cases has been reported in total till 3rd September. 130 new cases were reported on a single day.

As many as 37 people lost their lives to COVID in Paschim Bardhaman in total, which is way more then any other neighbouring districts.

But the good news is that a huge rate of recovery was seen in the recent days in Durgapur as well as in the district. A total of 3289 people have recovered and were discharged in Paschim Bardhaman.

This took the recovery rate of the district to a little over 79%, which is a great improvement.

Paschim Bardhaman district administration are trying their very best to keep the situation under control.

A 3 day lockdown period was recently imposed by the local residents of Gopalmath to check the increase in the increase in the COVID cases in the area.

A new initiative by SDO and district administration is to set up “Pocket Zones” in different areas of Durgapur to raise awareness about the situation of those areas and tell people the importance of using masks and sanitizers.
