The Bangla Shasya Bima is a crop insurance scheme provided by the West Bengal Government to the farmers of West Bengal for free. The farmers don’t have to pay any premium to insure their crops.

This scheme was implemented so that farmers don’t have to bear the loss of crops due to weather or other circumstances. Thus it prevents them from a financial crisis.

The Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal had tied up with a number of Insurance companies and banks to implement the scheme.

Bangla Shasya Bima insurance premium

Under the Bangla Shasya Bima scheme, the insurance premium the farmer needs to pay is provided below.

Rabi	All food grains and oilseeds crops	NIL
Kharif & Rabi	Commercial crops: Potatoes and Sugarcane	4.85% of Sum insured or actuarial rate whichever is lower

Bangla Shasya Bima registration process

To register for the Bangla Shasya Bima yojana,

First, check if your crop and area can be covered under the Bangla Shasya Bima scheme.
If yes, download the Bangla Shasya Bima the application form.
Take a printout of the form.
Fill it up properly by hand.
You can then submit the form along with the required documents at a Duare Sarkar camp.
You can also submit it to the office of the Assistant Director of Agriculture of your block.

Step to report crop loss under Bangla Shasya Bima scheme

The insured farmers who have suffered a crop loss must report it to the concerned Insurance Company within the stipulated time period.

To report a crop loss,

First, go to the official website of Bangla Shasya Bima at banglashasyabima.net.
On the home page, click on the report crop loss option.
The numbers of insurance companies for each season will appear on the screen.
Contact them directly to report your crop loss.
