Local residents stopped the toll collection at Banskopa Toll plaza

Three school students of Rajbandh were ran down by a Bardhaman-Bolpur bus on the national highway.

This happned on Wednesday morning. Local people blamed the traffic jam at the toll plaza as the cause of the accident and stopped the toll for indefinite time.

Local residents reported that the national highway authority promised to make a foot overbridge to avoid accidents on the highway. Till now the bridge hasn’t been made.

In addition to that, since the toll plaza was opened, accidents are happening more often.

Many people have died crossing the road all because of the traffic jam that the toll created. Some are getting injured too.

The Wednesday incident was enough for the residents to stop the toll collection.

They claimed it will be closed until the foot overbridge is in place.

They are even willing to conduct a bigger protest if needed.

The injured students are now currently in Gauridebi hospital. Police has been assigned to the toll plaza for security reasons.
