Another deadly accident took place today at the Coke Oven unit of Durgapur Steel Plant.
According to the sources, today morning at about 11A.M. the dust catcher of the Coke Oven plant fell on a contractor labour named Aamin Khan(40).
The incident took place as he was not taking proper safety measure while working on the Dust Catcher with a Gas Cutter. The Dust Catcher accidentally fell on him and he died on spot. He was a resident of Kadaroad, Durgapur.
The workers became furious due to the incident. According to them, the number of permanent staff in DSP is reducing day by day. Most of the work is done by contractor labours.
According to the workers, most of the accidents are happening due to the lack of training and experience of the contractor labours. They are blaming the administration for their lack of responsibility towards the workers.
