New Internet Exchange Point inaugurated in Durgapur

Durgapur: Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, has recently inaugurated two new Internet Exchange Points (IXPs).

It was set up by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) in Durgapur and Burdwan in West Bengal.

This initiative is part of the 1000-day plan of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

NIXI aims to set up such Internet exchanges in many Tier-2 and Tier-3 soon to improve the entire Indian Internet ecosystem.

It will give users access to internet services at a higher speed with lower costs.

NIXI invites all ISPs to support the native Internet ecosystem.

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) operates the first Internet exchange in Kolkata.

With the opening of two new internet exchange points in Durgapur and Burdwan, it is currently expanding its presence across the state.

The opening of these new NIXI Internet exchanges across the state will improve broadband services to their end-users and change the lives of people in the area.

There will be more online government facilities for the citizens, which will increase their standard of living.

Also, with the opening of these new IXPs, MSMEs and other business sectors as well as health, education, agriculture, and startup ecosystems will also be benefited immensely.
