West Bengal Electricity Department launches 'Cyclone Yaas' Helpline number

Kolkata: On Friday, the West Bengal electricity department held a meeting to discuss the impact of Cyclone ‘Yaas/Yash’ on different districts of West Bengal. It is likely to hit West Bengal and north of Odisha on 25th May.

According to news sources, the names of the districts of West Bengal that are likely to be hit by the cyclone have also been released.

The department has also launched some helpline numbers that the general public can contact in case of any emergency.

The numbers are 8900793503 and 8900793504. The numbers will be reachable from 25th May night.

The names of the districts that are likely to be hit by the cyclone are North 24 Pargana, South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Howrah, Kolkata, and Midnapore.

The department has also send more than 15000 electric poles, wires, and transformers to these districts. The Cyclone ‘Yaas’ is expected to be more powerful than previous year’s cyclone ‘Amphan’.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, also tweeted two helpline numbers of 24×7 control rooms that have been set up for ‘Yaas Cyclone’.

The 24×7 ‘Yaas Cyclone’ control rooms numbers are 1070 and 033-22143526.

Fishermen have been alerted to immediately return. 24×7 control rooms have been set up (Ph No – 1070 & 033-22143526). All agencies have been asked to spring into action. Relief materials have been dispatched & Quick Response Teams are mobilised.
