Durgapur: Durgapur Airport commercial flight operations are closed for about 5 months now.
Though in the middle of the lockdown it was once informed that flight operations may start at the end of May, it was not made possible due to strict restrictions and regulations from the government.
On 7th September, the airport authorities have informed that flight operations will start from Andal Airport soon.
According to sources, private airline Spicejet is all set to start flight operations in Durgapur – Mumbai, and Durgapur – Chennai routes from 14th September.
It is also known that the flight services, to and from Mumbai and Chennai, will be operational on 3 days per week. The days selected are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday according to Spicejet Website.

In the recent unlock phase, Metro Rail services in Kolkata resumed on 7th September after remaining closed for about 5 months. Flight operation from Kolkata Airport has also started to some airports.
Air India, who run flights from Durgapur to Hyderabad and Delhi may start their operations from October. However, no confirmation has been given yet.
Spicejet is also planning to add flight operations to Bagdogra and Guwahati from Durgapur.
