A car theft incident in Durgapur was caught on CCTV on Thursday. The incident took place in front of Durgapur Municipal Corporation, on one of the busiest roads in the City Center area.
An FIR has been lodged and the police are trying to find the culprit by examining the CCTV footage.
The Incident
According to the sources, a person named Shivprasad Gupta parked his car in front of DMC and went inside Durgapur Municipal Corporation for some work. After that, a guy was seen breaking the back window of his car and taking the bags inside it in broad daylight. According to the victim, there were Rs.5000 cash, PAN Card, Aadhar cards and some documents in the bag that got stolen.
The whole incident was caught on CCTV and you can see the bags being stolen from the car with its window broken. There were passersby who even noticed the incident as seen in the footage.
It can also be seen in the footage that a few men and women were found loitering near the car for some time. After that one person amongst them broke the window and took the bag out.
This is not the first time that such an incident happened in the City Center area. Last year similar incidents happened in the City Center area just before Puja.
