Learning Licence Renewal Online | How To Renew Learner’s Licence

A learner licence is a temporary licence that allows you to learn driving under the supervision of a permanent licence holder. It is valid for six months from the date of issue, and you can apply for a permanent licence after 30 days of holding a learner licence.

However, if your learner licence expires before you get a permanent licence for any reason, you need to renew it online or offline.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made it easier to renew your learner licence online through their official website parivahan.gov.in.

Steps to renew learner licence online in India

To apply for learner licence renewal online,

Step 1: Go to the official website of Parivahan Sarathi

  1. First, go to the official website of Parivahan at parivahan.gov.in
  2. Next, click on ‘Online Services’ and select ‘Driving License Related Services’ from the drop-down.
  3. Select your state.

Step 2: Open Learner License renewal page

  1. The Parivahan Sarathi portal will open up on your screen.
  2. Next, click on the Learner Licence option on the main menu.
  3. Next, click on the ‘Expired Learner Licence Issue Again’ option from the drop-down.
  4. A new page will open.

Step 3: Enter your expired Learner Licence details

  1. On the new page, enter your LL number and Date of Birth as on your Learner’s Licence.
  2. Next, enter the captcha.
  3. Next, click on the ‘Submit button.
  4. A new page with your name and father’s name will open.
  5. Next, click on the ‘Confirm’ button.

Step 4: Authenticate your Learner licence

  1. Now authenticate using the method as mode during the initial issue of learner licence.
  2. Next, complete the authentication process based on the option selected.
  3. Your learner licence will open.

Step 5: Fill out the LL renewal application form

  1. Next, select the vehicle class for which you are applying by selecting and clicking on the arrow.
  2. Next, fill in the checkboxes as applicable.
  3. Now, click on the ‘Self Declaration (Form 1)’ button.
  4. Next, fill it up and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  5. Next, fill out the declaration checkboxes as applicable.
  6. Next, enter the captcha code and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Your application will be successfully submitted. Now you need to update the documents and pay the required fees.

Step 6: Upload Documents

  1. Now, click the ‘Next’ button and then click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  2. Your application number and date of birth will be automatically filled out. Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  3. Next, click on the ‘Ok’ button.
  4. Next, upload all the required documents, such as learner licence scanned copy and medical certificate (if applicable).
  5. Next, click on the ‘Next’ button.

Step 7: Pay Fees Online

  1. Now, make sure the ‘FEE PAYMENT’ option is selected and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  2. You will see a new page with the fee details and payment options.
  3. Choose your preferred mode of payment and click on the ‘Pay Now’ button.
  4. Follow the instructions to complete the payment process.

You will receive a confirmation message and receipt for your payment.

After the fee payment, you need to visit RTO if it is required in your state or RTO. It is mandatory in some states and not required in others.

By following these steps, you can easily apply for learner’s licence renewal online. It will take a few days to process depending on your RTO. You can then download your learner’s licence online.
