The document that you will need to transfer (change address) your voter ID card is a scanned copy of the address proof of the new address.

Steps to apply for Voter ID card transfer after marriage online

To apply for transfer of your Voter ID (EPIC) Card after marriage,

Step 1: Go to the Voters’ Service Portal

  1. First, go to the official website of Voters’ Service Portal at voters.eci.gov.in.
  2. Next, click on the “Login” option.
  3. Next, enter your Username and Password.
  4. Next, enter “Captcha” and click on the “Request OTP” button.
  5. Next, enter the OTP received in the specified field and click on the ‘Verify & Login’ button.

Step 2: Open Voter ID Form 8

  1. The homepage of the Voters’ Service Portal will open up.
  2. Next, click on the “Fill Form 8” button.
  3. Next, choose for whom you are changing the address the details and enter the voter ID number.
  4. Next, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  5. Next, select the ‘Shifting of Residence’ option.
  6. Next, click on the appropriate option from the two options provided (Within Assembly Constituency/Outside Assembly Constituency).
  7. Next, click on the ‘OK’ button. A new page will open up.

Step 3: Enter new address and other details

  1. Now, select the state, district, and AC no. from the lists.
  2. Next, add other details if required.
  3. Next, click on the ‘Next’ button.
  4. Next, enter the full address of your new residence in the specified fields.
  5. Next, select the address proof you have and select the document.
  6. Next, click on the ‘Next’ button.

Step 4: Submit Form 8

  1. Next, enter the place from where you are applying from.
  2. Next, click on the ‘Next’ button.
  3. Next, enter the captcha code.
  4. Next, click on the ‘Preview and Submit’ button.
  5. Filled-up form 8 will appear in front of you.
  6. Verify the details. If you want to make any changes, click on the “Keep Editing” option.
  7. If everything is ok, click on the “Submit” button.
  8. Next, click on the ‘Yes’ button.

Your application for transfer of your voter ID card to the new address will be submitted and a Reference ID will be generated. Click on the ‘Download Acknowledgement’ button to save it for future use.
